The Samosa Wrapper is a delicate and delicious pastry that wraps around different fillings creating the unique and delicous Samosa.
It is made from wheat flour, water, salt and lemon. Once the ingredients are mixed the dough is formed and divided into portions. Each portion is then rolled out into a circle and stacked one on top of the other. The stack is then sheeted and slightly cooked on a griddle. Each layer is then peeled, separated, re-stacked and cut into a strip
Samosas:
Samosas made from our pastry can be baked or deep fried.
OVEN: Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 7-10 mins on each side or until golden brown.
DEEP FRY: Pre-heat fryer to 200°C (400°F). Lightly fry for 7-10 minutes until lightly golden crisp.
Defrosting
At room temperature: 1-1½ hrs. per package of 25
Microwave: Remove top plastic and boards. Place 1 package of 25 frozen pastries with cling wrap in the microwave. Thaw at medium heat for 2 mins.. Remove cling wrap and fold as illustrated(below). Always keep pastry covered with damp cloth to retain moisture and softness for easier folding.
Storage
Tightly cover unused portions in fresh cling wrap and/or zip lock bag. Refreeze for up to 6 months.
Paste (for 25 Samosas)
- 2 heaping TBLS all purpose flour, 5 TBLS cold water, Mix well to create a medium thick paste
OR
- 2 egg whites, beaten may also be used as a paste
